What non-MMO games are you looking forward to?

The feeling is in the air and one can’t help but take notice that we’ve dipped our toes into the waters of a minor mmo drought (woah, that’s totally a contradiction but whatever).  Even if you’re content with being a masochist what you’re playing and have no intentions of looking forward to games like SWTOR, Mortal Online, Champions Online, or “The Next Big Thing â„¢”, you can’t help but take notice of the fantastic non-MMO games on the horizon.

What games are you interested in (non-MMO) that are coming out in the near (or far) future?  Here is my list in no particular order:

Army of Two: The 40th Day
Batman Arkham Asylum
Battlefield 1943
League of Legends
Ghostbusters
Overlord 2
Infamous
[Prototype]
Dragon Age Origins
StarCraft 2
Diablo 3

That’s a healthy mix of RTS, FPS, Adventure, and RPG right there on both console and PC.  The console games I tend to play sporadically unless one really hooks me.  Army of Two is one of those games that Graev and I usually sit down and beat within a week because of the amazing coop gameplay.  Overlord 2 is going to be a fantastic continuation of the Overlord series that keeps me laughing and oppressing at the same time.  Dragon Age Origins is looking like it will be the next biggest thing since Oblivion and Battlefield 1943 should reignite the oldschool BF flame.  Two that you should really watch are Infamous and Prototype; these games really came out of nowhere until Graev showed them to me and jeez do they ever look amazing.  And of course last but certainly should-be-first on the list are SC2 and D3 which should shake the very foundation of foundations when they launch.

What’s in your wallet on your list of non-MMO games?  Hopefully I’ll be able to add a few more to my list after you guys share yours.

  • Mass Effect for the X-box 360. I have it sitting on my shelf, I hear it’s quite good. However on any random evening I have spare time I can’t seem to pull myself off of whatever MMO I’m obsessing on. I’m also looking forward to the Game of the Year Edition of Fallout, looks like a fantastic bargain. As well as the second half of Bioshock. The first part, that i played one day when my internet was down, was quite good.

  • I’m looking forward to the new FPS that YNK Interactive is coming out with. In Korea it’s called “Sting”. Kickass and free!

  • Mass Effect2
    Kingdom Underfire II
    Starcraft 2
    Diablo 3
Global Agenda – the pseudo MMO

  • Only Diablo 3 and Dragon Age on that list.

(However I’m in the Dragonica beta -oops that’s an mmo- and having a blast. It feels like Maple Story done right.)

  • MAG – 256 player online FPS battles. The sheer number of players online they’re trying to get into a fight is worth keeping an eye on it to see how it pans out. It’s the SOCOM guys working on it too.

Red Dead Redemption – Rockstar games is taking GTA sandbox to the wild west. Tons of potential here. There aren’t very many good western games, but this may be the first truly great one.

Modern Warfare 2 – obviously this should be pretty good.

  • How about:

    Borderlands (great new art style)
RAGE (Id game that isn’t Doom/Quake; looks like fun)
Project TRICO (Team Ico’s next game; leaked footage looks amazing)
Beyond Good and Evil 2 (never played the first but always wanted to)
    Heavy Rain
Torchlight (from the makers of Mythos)
    Elements (from Stardock)
and some of the games on your list (Diablo 3, SC2, Dragon Age)

  • Sims 3. I’ve never really played The Sims (or wanted to) but I figure it’s something I should really try and this seems like a good time.

  • Dawn of War: Dark Crusade and Dawn of War 2 are both tickling my RTS needs. Meanwhile, Left 4 Dead has a solid place in my heart…in particular, survival mode is a lot of fun, and I’m looking forward to the release of the SDK and tons of user-generated content. All three emphasize my favorite aspect in any game: co-op gameplay.

  • I’ve been bashing the brains out of Demigods lately – it’s proving an interesting twist on DotA but needs more players really to keep it going.

I get Pokemon Platinum tomorrow, can’t wait! 😀

  • Starcraft 2, Diablo 3!!!

Even Sims 3 which comes out very very soon. (minus the leak)

  • I tell ya what if Kingdom Underfire II is anything like the first KuF on xbox but with MMO mixed in I’ll may have my first real time sink game in a long time.

Hell I may fire up KuF Crusader’s tonight. I wonder if the online part still works…if it even works on the 360.

  • This is my list of non-MMO games:

If it’s not MMO I’m not interested! 🙂
I’ve done my share of singleplayer and multiplayer gaming throughout my years of sitting infront of a computer, and I ain’t going back to that anytime soon. The social aspect of a MMO is one of the big things that keeps me playing (being able to kill other players instead of NPCs is another) and without the social aspect I’d rather spend my time on something more worthwhile than gaming tbh.

  • I didn’t add BF: Heroes to my list because I’ve been playing it already. It’s definitely fun. 🙂

  • League of Legends, i managed to get some closed beta time in before I left the states. It’s definitely a lot of fun for DotA lovers and probably those that don’t already play it alike. Adds plenty of strategic and gameplay depth without departing from the core fundamentals of one of the best mods ever. Definitely worth looking out for.

  • You guys should try out Plants Vs Zombies.

Awesome addiction for $10 on steam.

  • Upcoming non-MMO games I’m looking forward to are (in no particular order):

    Batman Arkham Asylum
    Brütal Legend
    Overlord 2
    Dragon Age Origins
    Mass Effect 2

  • the new 1942 looks kinda crappy
    like they half assed it.

am looking forward to Diablo 3, Masseffect 2, The Saboteur and Red Dead Redemption
