BF3 just launched today and is already showing us why it’s the best shooter of the past several years. The maps are amazing. One level in particular is set in a city with numerous 3-4 story buildings with plenty of places to hide. Moving between buildings with a squad and dodging tanks actually works in BF3 because the maps are so well detailed and big!
Skylanders: Spyro’s Adventure is the game/toy that your kids are going to be begging you to buy come Christmas time. Many stores are already selling out on all of the additional characters and sets

Skylanders looks like a good idea which has seemingly really captured the public’s imagination. But the prices make me REALLY glad I don’t have kids and that I’m personally not that sucked in by the idea. Here in the UK:
Starter Pack: £49 (over $78)
Single Figure: ~£7 ($11)
At least the extra content has has a physical component!
With it proving so popular and no doubt popular it might be something another game emulates soon.
Like most toys/games that go viral easily, it does require an investment. If this had been around when I was a kid, I KNOW I would have been begging my parents for all of the sets.
The fact that your skylander physical toys store the data of your in-game characters and allow them to be taken to someone else’s house, regardless of what platform they use, and play with that person using your skylanders is awesome.
I’m probably going to snag one for my 7 year old’s birthday in 2 weeks. Thanks for the stream and info K&G.

Ok fellas. I’m going to pick up a copy today and get some extra guys. What do you think is more important. 3 extra guys or the expansion pack? Do you think my kids will need more content right off the bat or more guys to switch out.

Another quick question. I saw that the pirate ship expansion had a treasure chest and a couple of swords. Do these go on the portal also? If so what do they do?

Get more guys before more content. It’s more fun to switch guys out, get stuff fir more guys, and upgrade more guys right off the bat than it is to do more content.
Those swords and chests go on the portal. The swords fly around with you and hit stuff. The treasure chest locates the hidden dragon treasure.
That’s kinda what I was thinking, but I wanted to make sure.
