Weekend of Gaming: Fablops

It’s a weekend where I have absolutely no schoolwork!  *Hallelujah*

I’ll be spending the hours away in two games: Call of Duty Blops and Fable 3, or ‘Fablops’.  What are you guys playing?

Fable 3
Today I’ll be devoting a good chunk of time to Fable 3 because I have some catching up to do. I bought it right when I had 4 midterm-like exams and ended up playing for four hours then I had to force myself to forget about it in order to study. Then CoD Blops came out when I had nothing to do and it stole my time. No more! I’m going to make some real headway into the game now. I’ve really enjoyed the first hours of play, especially since I’m playing it coop with Graev. It’s really quite nice how they’ve done coop this time around so that you can play the actual game with a buddy seamlessly.

CoD Blops
I’m rank 32 now and slowly climbing. There have been at least two patches that I know I’ve downloaded which improved performance, however, yesterday the stuttering/hitching returned. It’s still very playable and at times I don’t even realize it’s there — that is, until I try to snipe someone and my bullet goes through. I’m not worried about whether or not they’ll fix it, I just want it to be sooner rather than later.

There are already hackers out there, sadly. They are aim botting and it’s extremely obvious. Even the ones who try to hide their cheating can’t since the game tracks your stats for all to see. If I suspect someone is cheating, I just check their profile and see that sure enough 80% of their shots are headshots and they have a 15:1 k/d ratio. The handy “Report for cheating” button on their profile gives me some satisfaction.  Lucky for us this time we have server admins to ban people.

I’m enjoying the Hardcore mode the best. It’s the most realistic to me and it is handled quite nicely. Demolition is probably the best game mode out there since it’s 1 team defending two bomb sites and another trying to blow them up. S&D is also pretty good if you don’t mind staying dead after you die (slows the game down when people are a little more hesitant to suicide attack).

The customization is excellent. I’ve bought a half-dozen face paints, multiple camos for guns, customized my reticule, collected all sorts of scopes for various guns, and have tried to buy all the various unlocks that I can. I’m definitely enjoying my time spent.

  • ” The handy “Report for cheating” button on their profile gives me some satisfaction.  Lucky for us this time we have server admins to ban people.”

    Well its about damn time.

  • Sadly I can’t find an MMO to hold me over until the promising releases of 2011. I’ve been playing a bit of Vindictus, but I don’t consider that an MMO. It also gets me excited for Tera knowing the combat will be a lot alike.

I just picked up Fallout: New Vegas and messing with some mods before making the journey. So far so good 😉

My girlfriend is trying to talk me into getting into WoW again for the next big expansion…. not so sure yet. I have to admit, I have always wanted to play as a Goblin since the beginning.

  • Im in a rare position tonight since a I have an entire night to myself. Going to do an old fashioned geek out and play black ops all night, maybe even push to my first prestige by tomorrow, Im at level 30 now.

  • @Dismantled: WoW is the only MMO worth playing when Cataclysm comes out. It’ll change in the coming year (yes, I have insider info).

    @MMORefugee: I’m doing the same. 😛

  • Just a note, if you see a hacker you might want to add it to your Fileshare from your Recent Games List, Treyarch said in their warning that it’s great for definitive proof of hacking (since aimbotting/wallhacking are obvious as hell in a replay).

Then report them and hopefully it’ll help your cause a great deal! Luckily I’ve only seen 2 hackers so far, and one of them was dealt swiftly with by an admin banning him.

I’m hoping that the replay system, along with dedicated servers are going to make hacking much less of an issue than it was in MW2. I’d imagine fewer people would risk a VAC ban when it’s that easy to check.

  • I’m playing some Guild Wars atm working on some unlocks for my Hall of Monuments (unlock stuffs for GW2). I started just cos I was in a void in WoW waiting for Cata release but to my surprise I’m having a blast, right now I would actually be happy if Blizzard postponed Cata by several months ^^

  • “yes, I have insider info”: bah you MMO-tease, but light at the end of the tunnel at least.

However, unless it’s Blizzard’s new MMO I will approach with caution in case it’s a flamethrower.

  • Picked up Blops totally on a whim and I think the multiplayer is really high quality. Enjoying it very much so far.

  • i miss the party system that MW2 had.
its impossible to get me and the guys i play with all in the same game, against other people.
we normally have to play on a empty server, and then often are on opposite teams. pretty annoying

  • Starcraft2, all the way! Sitting on skype with 4 mates in 4vs4 games talking shit and having a blast just seems so fulfilling compared to anything else right now.
