Well that sucks

Cataclysm is coming out December 7?  What am I supposed to do for two months?!  I was really looking forward to playing in just a few short weeks but those wishes have been squashed.  I guess, from what I’ve been reading and hearing from friends, that the 4.0 patch and subsequent pre-expansion patches are really in need of more time.  Part of me doesn’t care and wants it now… the other part agrees.

I went really inactive in WoW for a month but the past few days have been really therapeutic for me as I ease my way back in.  Friends are returning (one hit 80, grats Bartlebe) and we’re going to just keep easing in until we find something better to do.  Some good advice that I was given and would like to pass on is that each of you wanting to get BoA (Heirloom) gear get it now.  It’s probably going to be way easier and I think even more efficient if you just buy it now instead of waiting until after the patch.

Want to play WoW?  Come play with us on Emerald Dream.  We’re not raiding anymore and probably won’t until Cataclysm.  That doesn’t mean we can’t have fun doing battlegrounds and casually farming for our alts/bank accounts.   This isn’t my official “come back” post — I’ll make that after the patch.  I know there are a great many of you that are just waiting for me to beckon you back, but I think that you’re best staying on your hiatus lest you burn out again.  That is, unless you want to just chill with us again.

What’s the next big thing?  I guess Call of Duty Black Ops November 9th.  Other than that, it’s Final Fantasy and a handful of console games, Alphas/Betas, and backlog to work through (on top of my WoW’ing, of course).

This is what I get for praising Blizzard’s policy of delaying games.

PS. Working my way through Stargate SG-1 again.  Just finished the Nox episode (ep. 12).  One of the best.

  • Unless you plan on leveling a class you have before I’d honestly say don’t bother with heirlooms for Cataclysm.

The questing and leveling is fun and the story is vastly improved, you nearly out level quests even without exp boosts.

Combined from the exp boost you’ll get from being in a guild, and the exp of gathering professions (equal to about 10 monster kills per node at the proper level) you’ll find yourself out leveling the content.

24 hours played time can have you near level 40 (I’m at 38 with 24 hours played including afk time).

If you only plan on doing dungeons or only care about getting to 85 then it may be of use to you but I think you’ll be missing out on what this expansion really set out to do.

P.S. Darkshore and Stonetalon Mountains have been on par with the Storm Peaks in how fun they where.

  • I already have all of the heirlooms I want for my ‘main alts’ but I want to collect a few more pieces in case I decide to make a chain wearing class.

I actually don’t like Storm Peaks… so hopefully that doesn’t mean Darkshore and Stonetalon are boring now.

  • Try for some other goal. Mine is to get the 100 mounts achievement before Cataclysm hits. Maybe get a static group and go for the red proto-drake if you haven’t already.

  • I’m on the other side. I thought there was NO way it would be out this year, so I’m fired up about Dec 7.

    cyall online.

  • Damn, i still need to buy WoTLK! I want to hit 80 before the next expansion. I’ve been playing catch up since BC launched and I was late to the party.

  • @Howdy

Speaking of seeing you online, who to I have to kill to get you guys over on our vent and on Emerald Dream?

  • Nox was one of my favorites but Snezza beat me. The groundhog day episode was my favorite by far.

“IN THE MIDDLE OF MY BACKSWING??”

Also I may have to consider looking you guys up in wow, I caved and resubbed and nees some cool people to play with and our brief time in Allods was fun.

  • LOL I recieved an email this morning of my account being closed;

Reason for Closure: Terms of Use Violation — Exploitative Activity: Use of Third Party Automation Software

Considering I haven’t played in 2 years, this was quite funny.

  • @Qpon: That was probably a phishing email, careful.

@Snezza: I totally agree about the groundhog day episode. Definitely my favorite. I voted for it back when they were airing fan-favorites years ago as SG-1 was ending.

@Mark: We’d love to have you.

  • I got all the heirlooms for my goblin rogue back in August. I was not expecting the expansion this year so a December release date is cool with me.

  • What are you supposed to do for 2 months? Well, you could always keep playing Civ V and FFXIV (or any of the myriad of other games you write about).

  • “A Blizzard Game is never late, a Blizzard Game always arrives exactly when it means to.”

I called December ages ago. Though I admit I was probably talking December 2009.

  • @Bart

ahahahha…I know, I know. It’s my fault. To be fair thou I have been out of the game for a couple weeks. Life was just to busy. Should be on soon and will wrangle the others over.

  • Well, it wasn’t a phish email. I was hacked and drained. But customer support is top notch; responded and restored all my items the next day.

    Still contemplating Cat.
