Bartle Test again – KASE

KASEI took the Bartle Test again because my playstyle recently changed. I went from being a very supportive role to one of aggression. I’m enjoying the tank/dps/meat shield approach to MMORPGs more than I ever have in the past. I answered the questions on this test with absolute truth looking over each question carefully and deciding which best described how I truly felt overall. The results are interesting.

KASE players tends to enjoy the PVP aspect most of all, but also likes to pit themself against all the challenges of the PVE environment as well–although the latter is often a means to an end. This type of player will often enjoy PVP that focuses on their skill as an individual contributor (duels, and so forth) more than team-based PVP.

Breakdown: Achiever 60.00%, Explorer 40.00%, Killer 66.67%, Socializer 40.00%

That’s a somewhat drastic change from my previous Bartle test. Last results gave me EASK telling me I was all about exploring. Achieving has always been high on the list and given my obsession with that topic lately it makes sense. Interesting though how the “Killer” side came from the bottom to the top.

Perhaps it’s because of WAR or because I simply needed a change… I’m still perplexed by the results and drastic change of my playstyle lately.

  • I flip between healer and rogue, though I have tanks and mages “just because”. In EQ1 I was a druid, then a rogue, then a cleric. In DAoC I was a minstrel, then a bard, then a shaman (yup, all three realms). In FFXI, thief, monk, white mage, summoner, bard, red mage… well, their class structure is weird. All those jobs were just the one character. In EQ2, cleric, then troub, and still liking troub, but my SK and necro are coming up on the level cap; or were until Kunark, anyway.

  • GuildCafe’s test puts as EAKS, but the test didn’t suit me well. I’m really more of an EKAS, with much more emphasis on the the first two letters. Basically, I’m always on the lookout for new things to kill and new ways to kill them. 😉

I’d never heard of someone’s Bartle-type changing, but I guess that would be common.

A person’s playstyle probably changes somewhat from game to game, too. In Oblivion, as a sneaky archer-assassin, I’m patient and cautious. In Halo 3, I’m reckless fool, dying twice as often as I would if I wasn’t always trying to smack aliens in the face with the back end of my Bruteshot. I play all sorts of characters and styles in games. The one constant is that I like to play extremes. Balanced characters don’t interest me so much.

  • I took it again, and EASK here, which is the same as it’s always been. (I can’t help it…apparently, I’m an attention-whore…who could have figured THAT one out?)

And your playstyle changes over time, just like your taste in television shows, or music, or movies, etc. “He’s a lover, not a fighter” should be modified for the MMORPG world to “He’s a lover…come back next year.”
