Wrapping up the weekend

Back in those glorious days of high school and as far back as I can remember the weekend has always been that highly anticipated action packed “can’t wait for it to come” time of the week.  Why now has it changed into a time of rest, relaxation, and a serious lull?  Please tell me this is not what getting old feels like. *shiver*  So yeah, I’ve had a really slow weekend and as it winds down I thought I would do a recap of what I played this week and mostly the past 3 days.

Lord of the Rings Online has begun to lose precedence in my gaming time.  There’s nothing left for me to do in the game because I have every item that I want and I have done every quest that I want and PVP is all but a dead grind of camping Gramsfoot on Meneldor.  I logged in a bit this weekend to talk to some friends but just never felt a reason to stay online more than an hour at a time.  I’ve begun to prioritize other things ahead of it already and that’s the first sign of burnout for me.

Next up I’ve had a great deal of fun on the Wii playing Mario Strikers Charged with Graev.  If you didn’t catch my blog entry on that and you own a Wii then you won’t want to miss it.  Mario Strikers Charged is now my favorite Wii title.  Hopefully this gets me ramped up for when Smash Bros and Mario Kart come out.  On the topic of consoles, Graev has been plugging away at the Resident Evil game on the Wii.  He’s really enjoying it this time through more than he did back on the Gamecube (RE4 is a remake).

Now to the juicy stuff!  I’ve been playing a few betas this week which have taken time slot numero uno!  Sadly I can’t tell you anything about them yet but I look forward to sharing all the goods with you when the NDA’s are down.  So that still rules out my participation in the WAR beta; If I were in the WAR beta it would have been shouted from the rooftops given that there’s no NDA coverage on saying you’re actually in their beta.  Which reminds me… does having a blog make you press?  I never put much consideration into the matter because personally I don’t consider bloggers to be press in any way.  We just talk about stuff and rarely do we ever get any exclusives.  So we’re not press, right?  See?  I’m still a noob.

I hope you are all having a great weekend and hopefully your week was equally as enjoyable.

  • If I’m not mistaken, being a Vault staff member does make you “press”. But if you didn’t say so in your app, you’re likely not flagged as such.

  • Correct vault network is press – but if I’m not on the vault for Warhammer Online I don’t think that applies.

As for running a Blog; anyone know?

  • not sure if running a blog is considered press … technically it could be construed that way. Just be virtue that you can write a rev of the game and others can read it via an acknowledged media medium … however i cant say for sure

  • A few years back there was a gas leak in a nearby town. Nobody knew much about it, except that they had come on the cable system to tell people to stay inside, and get to high ground. So I filed a Freedom of Information Act request to get more information. Then I posted it to my blog. I think if we believe that a free press is a good thing, we have to be pretty free with our interpretation of who is ‘press’.
