Graev Wants to Play Pokken Tournament DX & Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2

Graev has always had a much more eclectic tastes in video games. He plays some pretty obscure and strange games, and then plays a bunch of games that aren't fun at all to me but he really, really likes them.

His Birthday is coming up and he's getting Pokken Tournament DX and Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 on the Switch. Sorry if I spoiled a surprise, Graev!

He wants me to get them too.

I don't know how I feel about either title because I don't really like fighting games. At all.

Pokken Tournament DX

Pokken Tournament DX is a fighting game. It's pretty much Pokemon using combos and Pokemon moves in what would feel like a modern Tekken or Street Fighter. I always use those games as my go-to fighting games because I'm not hip enough to reference games like Marvel vs. Capcom -- that's a game, right?

You get to play as 21 different Pokemon, call in other Pokemon to help, etc. It's still a fighting game. I think seeing Pikachu beat the crap out of a Charizard might be worth the purchase price.

I'm a little hesitant about it being a port from Switch, but so was Mario Kart 8 and that was phenomenal.

Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2

At first I thought this was just a fighting game, and I immediately told Graev there was no chance I'd play since Dragonball doesn't hold the same appeal for me as Pokemon.

Then he told me it's more like a RPG with MMO elements. You can go on quests and even... raid? ... together multiplayer. There's also multiplayer fighting.

I'm not sure what to think, but since this is also another title that was already out on PC, Xbox One, and PS4 I Google'd up some footage and wasn't completely dissuaded.

It's a mix of a brawler and a weird RPG.

Any of you tried Xenoverse 2? Worth looking into or should I just avoid it altogether?

Between the two, I think Pokken Tournament DX looks a little more interesting despite being more true to the fighter genre -- which again, I'm not a fan.

Your thoughts are welcome. Please dissuade or persuade to your heart's content.
