Hulk Movie

The new Hulk movie = Awesome!

It totally redeems the good name of Hulk from the depths it sunk to back in 2003.  The story is much better, the action is there including several Hulk fight scenes, and the acting isn’t too shabby with a much better Bruce Banner (Edward Norton).

Go see it!

  • Actually I thought Eric Bana’s acting in the 2003 version of the Hulk was pretty decent. The only issue I had was with the special effects which had a hard time making the CGI Hulk look like a physical entity within the live action shots. I’m assuming they did a better job with this version as the lighting/shading looks somewhat better, although not perfect, as noted in the trailer for the movie. I might see if I can check it out this weekend some time.

  • I actually disliked it. As great as Iron Man turned out, I guess this was something of a disappointment. No wit, no exposition (I mean, they glanced over his entire background during the opening credits), and terrible dialogue really ruined it for me.

The chase scene at the beginning was nifty, but Bourne did it better.

  • I liked Iron Man more as well. Maybe I’m easy to please after being so horribly let down with the 2003 Hulk. Apparently there is 70 minutes of footage that wasn’t included in the movie that sets up how he became Hulk – perhaps it will be on the DVD.

  • At the very beginning (opening credits) there is a reference to Stark Enterprise in all of the CGI computer jargon.

  • It’s a good movie, indeed!

But there is one thing that breaks it all for me, it’s the digital creation of the “Hulk” himself.

    Come on, it’s 2008?
I’m not at all impressed by the creation of this character, it’s not like Gollum in Lord of the Rings which actually feels “real”, throughout the entire movie I’m just thinking of how “unreal” he looks. It’s like a bad Shrek animation..

That really destroys it all for me 🙁

  • ed norton as the hulk cant picture it but ed norton is a great actor one of the best around right now so bet he can pull it off i will watch it for sure

  • @Thomas Andre:

You just made me remember that. Gollum was the most compelling CGI character I’ve ever seen in a movie. It does seem like there haven’t been very good ones since then.

I second your demand for more compelling CGI!

Get out of that uncanny valley!

  • For what it was, I really enjoyed it. I didn’t once question how real or fake he looked in the movie but I wasn’t trying to spoil it for myself either. Comparing the two hulks, this one definitely wins – but I was hoping for a more compelling story.

    SPOILER
The cameo of Stark at the end was great. Looking forward to an Avengers movie!
