Last summer a great hack and slash dungeon crawler hit the shelves known as Titan Quest. It had the smell of Diablo II, the look of Diablo II, the feel of Diablo II, heck it was almost identical to Diablo in every way imaginable. But that’s why I liked it so much! But what surprises me most is that just like Diablo II I am playing this game a year after I stopped playing it.
Graev picked up the expansion pack from Best Buy this afternoon because he was craving a good dungeon crawler to tide him over until something new comes around. Following his lead I picked up a copy and we both started over in the game. Last year both of our computers were a tad slower than now and neither of us had wide screen monitors. The experience is completely refreshing this time because our comps run the game blazing fast and we both have fantastic displays. We were both shocked when we started up the game and “oo’d and ahh’d” at the graphics. They aren’t bad!
I’m not sure if it’s the lightning fast gameplay, the plethora of loot drops, or the mind numbing addictiveness that keeps me playing. Graev and I plan to play TQ into the last difficulty this time and see all of the bosses. Last playthrough we didn’t have the expansion and we stopped after Act I on the toughest difficulty so this time we have our minds made up – we’re going to the end.
It should keep us busy for a few weeks!
I liked that game. 🙂 Still intend to get the ex-pack one day. For me it doesn’t have the same replayability of D2. The random dungeon generator went a long way for D2’s replayability. TQ is sorely missing that, in my book.

Yeah Graev brought up the random dungeon generation to me the other day but made a good point. After playing D2 for a while you do eventually see all of their “random generations”. It seems that it’s not truly random, but more of a pool that they pull the dungeons from. You can eventually see them all.
I still agree with D2’s dungeon generator being better though. so far we are in Egypt right now and loving it. I’m playing a Dream/Spirit and Graev is playing a Defense/Earth.
