We Now Return You To Your Regularly Scheduled Shenanigans

My wife and I just returned from a week long trip to Arizona to visit with family. After a week of barely any internet, I can say it's great to be back in the land of the wifi and cellular connections.

For whatever reason, I really underestimated how bad the internet connections would be at both the Grand Canyon and the northern Arizona mountainous areas. Checking email was almost an exercise in futility. Thus, my grand plans of blogging and staying plugged in failed miserably.

For the 10 minutes that I actually had a decent signal at the Grand Canyon I was able to catch a few Pokemon in Pokemon Go and hit up a few Pokestops. In a weird way, those little location stamps on my Pokemon feel like souvenirs. Digital souvenirs will probably be a thing in the next 10 years.

Now that I'm back, I plan to jump into the WoW pre-patch stuff. A few of you let me know you were disappointed with what you've seen so far. I'll let you know what I think once I've had a chance to play tomorrow.

I'm also playing catch-up on everything in the gaming news. Did I miss anything noteworthy?

  • But isn’t it good to be unplugged in once in awhile? Your comment of digital souvenirs made me think of Horizon Zero Dawn and finding the recordings spread out at different places.
Moonlighter is gaining much note and popularity! My husband and I are about to delve in the PC version of Monster Hunter world in a couple weeks when it releases so I have to wait to get Moonlighter till later this year. I showed the trailer to my friend and he bought it that night (and he usually waits for games to go on sale first before buying!) ^_^

    • It was actually nice to unplug, yes. For the first 2-3 days I felt like I was missing out, but after that I actually stopped checking my phone compulsively and just had fun sitting around.

Moonlighter looks real good. I’m trying to hold off and play on the Switch, but I might have to get it on PC.

  • Camelot unchained said their revised beta 1 date was Wednesday, or something like that.

I’ve noticed a slow down in the content of the internet over the last 5 years. Possibly because I’m not watching the constant Facebook updates.

The actual news sites used to update all night. Now they can barely be bothered to update once per day. So I could probably live with a news blackout for a couple days. It wouldn’t change much.

It’s depressing, but expected, that as soon as you got a connection we drifted to Pokémon world.

    • Well, to me it wasn’t depressing. I went there hoping to catch some neat Pokemon since I recently got back into the game in preparation for Pokemon Let’s Go.
