Adventure Log: Dark Souls: Prepare to Die and Transformers

Dark Souls Dragon
You fight all sorts of difficult enemies like Dragons and Demons.

Keen has been playing a lot of Guild Wars 2 the past few weeks.  Since I didn’t get GW2, I want to fill you in on what I’ve been playing for this week’s Adventure Log.

Dark Souls – PC

I’ve been playing a lot of Dark Souls: Prepare to Die Edition for the PC.  If you’re not familiar with the console hit, it’s the spiritual successor to the third person action RPG Demons Souls since it isn’t officially the sequel due to Sony owning the rights.

Dark Souls for the PC has content that the consoles won’t get until the end of October.  It’s mostly a single-player game with multiplayer elements.  You can summon other people into your game to fight each other’s bosses, and you can invade other people’s games and PvP against them.  Dark Souls is extremely difficult, but very rewarding.

Despite being very similar to the console version, the PC version has a healthy number of people playing, and is definitely worth checking out for those who enjoy action RPG’s.

Fall of Cybertron
Transformers still turn into vehicles similar to what they turn into on Earth. Optimus still turns into a big truck looking thing.

Transformers: Fall of Cybertron

Another title I’ve been playing a ton is Transformers: Fall of Cybertron.  Transformers:Fall of Cybertron is not a movie tie-in game.  It’s really good, which you wouldn’t expect given it’s a licensed game. Fall of Cybertron and the previous Transformer game are prequels to the transformers most people know — before they get to Earth while still on Cybertron.

You play as both the Autobots and Decepticons in a third person shooter style.  You get to transform into all sorts of things like planes, helicopters, tanks, cars, etc, to help you fight.  There’s great multiplayer with the typical modes.  This week new DLC comes out adding Dinobots to multiplayer.

There’s a lot of content to play through, and the gameplay is quite good.
