What we’re playing…

It has been a really slow week for gaming news but we’ve been having a good time playing a few games.

Lego Indiana Jones…
Fantastic game! We finished this one up yesterday and only have to finish going back through in Free Play mode to gather all the hidden treasures and artifacts. The Lego influence on the story stayed true to form throughout making it funny and just plain fun. I was a little worried that the game would slow down because of the emphasis on just basic punch attacks and limited ammo, but with whips and other new mechanics adding an extra flare to puzzles the game kept moving at a fast and interesting pace. We highly recommend co-op play for this one.

Call of Duty 4 Variety Map Pack
The new maps for COD4 finally came out for PC last week and we gave them a go on our new rigs. They are extremely well designed and add a lot of environments and feeling that the original maps lacked. My two favorites are Creek (because of the sniping opportunities and how the map really shows off the game’s graphics) and China Town (because of the urban combat feeling with buildings and windows). Best of all is the price for these maps: Free!

Warcraft 3 Custom map: Defense of the Ancients
Both of us are still really into DOTA. Although at times it’s frustrating and completely unbalanced when a team picks a poor selection of heroes, it’s still a lot of fun and a fantastic filler game.

Metal Gear Solid 4 comes out today and Graev’s excited. He’s also starting up the new Hulk game and playing through S.T.A.L.K.E.R. again. That’s pretty much what we’ve been up to for the past week. Anyone out there have any good recommendations that we may not have played? Share with us what you’re playing and maybe we can get a really good list of games going for people to use when in a slump.

  • dota only reminds me of that techno song. now it will be stuck in my head for a long tme.

  • Ugh, I hate console exclusive games… Damn you MGS4! I’d lean more towards getting a 360 if it wasn’t for this game… Resident Evil 5 won’t be on the 360 either. The thing is, I think I’d enjoy Xbox Live more than the PS3 online network.

  • Right now I’m playing Yakuza for PS2. The game is pretty much Shinmue with more fighting, and it’s super cheap now.

I’m also playing summer art class so MGS4 can wait a month.

  • FREE COD MAPS !?!?

I threw down 800 Microsoft Points for those maps on the 360…

I wonder why they’re free for the PC and not 360.

  • “Resident Evil 5 won’t be on the 360 either.”

Actually Resi5 is being released on both the PS3 and the Xbox 360…

I am peeved however that MGS4 is PS3 only…my girlfriend is obsessed with the series and wishes I had a PS3 now. 🙂

  • Team Fortress 2 and a little World of Warcraft for an occasional arena or battleground.

Team Fortress 2 is cheap, 20 bucks at Best Buy and its one of my all time favorite games. Try playing an engineer and get warmed up for Warhammer’s Dwarf engineers 🙂
