I came across this video and thought some of our readers who are looking forward to SC2 might find it interesting.  The Zerg look amazing.  Enjoy the video!

  • They do look awesome. That guy has some serious micro key pressing abilities. He moves to quickly through the menus.

Maybe i’m just a noob but I never was a very skilled SC player.

  • I hope there’s more to SC2 than what’s in that video. Right now it just looks like Starcraft with new graphics. I know for many people that would be enough, but after waiting this long for a sequel I’d be pretty disappointed. I couldn’t help but notice that air units STILL stack up on top of each other in an ungodly mess. I hated that in Starcraft.

I’ll probably end up buying it even if it is just Starcraft with a facelift since I have friends who will want to play multiplayer, but right now if you look past the new graphics it looks pretty bland. At least Warcraft III introduced new sides and mini-rpg elements.

  • I was watching G4 yesterday to see their preview of the Zerg and Blizzard showed them some really neat changes they’ve made.

    – Queens are ground units and run around your creep building defenses.

    – A new ultralusk unit that can burrow and deal lots of cleave damage.

    – You can infest multiple types of buildings and they automatically spawn infested units to fight for you.

    – Infesting air units is possible, example: infest a battle cruiser and it will fight for you.

That’s just what I can remember. Some very cool features for the Zerg that I think are only the beginning.

  • I was reading PCGamer on the train down to London for the weekend, and came across a teaser banner for something that’s obviously Dawn of War 2: The Next Generation.

I loved Starcraft – it was a fun pastiche of the Space Marine, Eldar and Tyranid forces, with decent interface for its day – but in a word of Supreme Commander, Dawn of War, Company of Heroes, World in Conflict… does the SC1esque game design as being currently shown really bring anything new to the table?

Or is it really just about freshening the Korean TV revenue stream?

I’ll play it, I’m sure, probably quite a bit, but right now I can’t summon much enthusiasm for recycled tyranids, when the real ones probably aren’t far off.
