Sarnak on a Carpet and nothin you can do about it!

Nothing more to report on today other than I finished the Carpet quest in Sinking Sands with the help of my guild. This is the first mount I have ever had in EQ2 and it’s totally awesome. Moving 40% faster is going to make life slightly more easier and I’ll look cool doing it too. As for Khek he’s going to be 50 tonight after I finish a couple more quests in Sinking Sands and once he dings I have no idea where to take him. I’m considering Lesser Faydark – is that a good idea?

  • Lesser Faydark is great. The bandit camp quests will keep you going for a long time and ends with a really neat event. Plus there are plenty other quests scattered around the zone — the Fae camp at Apothic Crossroads has a few nice ones.

And you don’t have to leave DoF either. Get a good Roost or Tables group, or even a Clefts group if you can find a good one — there’s great xp and loot in that zone and it’s a pretty amazing place, a whole Orc city.

Grats on the carpet! That’s a heck of a tough quest toward the end.

  • Those are fantastically beautiful screenshots, by the way.

Why some people dump on EQ2 for being ugly, I don’t know.

  • Thanks for the info Tipa! 🙂 I totally agree with you that EQ2 is beautiful. I only wish those screenshots did the game justice. It looks like my AA settings are not appearing in the screenshots. You’ll notice a few jagged edges that aren’t that way in-game. They’re still beautiful though.

  • Grats on the carpet Keen and pre-grats on 50! Last summer I got my cleric up to 50 and did some of the DoF content, but not nearly all. I found it to be a really fun and intersting zone. That said, I know we’ll be gunning to do Lesser Faydark as well when we reach that level. Our problem is we keep starting new trios of characters hehe. We’ve got two sets in the low 30s and one set in the low 40s. Eventually we’ll settle on three to take up higher.

And I have to add an /agree to the graphics issue. When you max out those settings things can look pretty phenomenal.

  • Lesser Faydark has quite a few neat quests. I would do them. There will be a few heroic quests that will be impossible to do alone. DOF and POF have tons of solo quests past 50 as well. There is also the Maj Dul faction quests that you should be able to start at 50. You can get some cool titles and a call of maj dul.

  • Funny, I have never followed EQ2 but I was personally appalled at how ugly those shots were- of course, I’m playing LOTRO right now. The ground in that third shot is pretty inexcusable.

  • The ground is actually really nice there. For some reason the game doesn’t take screenshots at full quality. I’m not sure if it’s to cut back on the size of them or what. Those shots are sorta bleh but their intent is not to show the game off but instead to show where my character is at currently.

I don’t want to get into a pissing match of what game looks better. Both LOTRO and EQ2 have qualities the other lacks.

  • The shots look great (and so does the ground). You’ve really been leveling! I’ve gotten caught up in the Kunark expansion and running a little behind on my blog reading. Have never completed the carpet quest so I envy you!

Lesser Faydark should be great at about 50. Lots of great quests.

  • I’ve been in Lesser Fay and it’s got some good quests but unfortunately the Fae Court hates my evil Sarnak guts. 🙁 I’m limited to those evil gypsy people and the WU camp. Hopefully there’s more than the 5 quests I found (or hopefully they chain out pretty long).

  • That’s cool, Keen- sorry for thread-crapping, I was just honestly underwhelmed. Glad you’re enjoying it. If I had ever been able to get into EQ (played for 3 months after release and came back when Kunark was released for a month, but it never grabbed me) I’d probably be giving EQ2 a shot.
