RUMOR: Richard Duffek is no longer with EA Mythic?

Confirmed as of 12 Sep 2007 18:21:53 EST

Due to the large interest this topic has shown across Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning Fansites, I would like to state the following up front to make it very clear. We certainly do hope that this rumor is false and the information we have been given is in error. Richard Duffek has earned respect among our community and I truly hope, again, that his is false.

This is currently hearsay so take it for what it’s worth. Rumor has it that Richard Duffek is no longer with EA Mythic. This news comes as a complete shock to me especially after having written such praise for Richard in yesterday’s blog entry.

UPDATE on facts that we know so far!

– Richard’s message board accounts on Warhammer Alliance and Vault Network no longer reflect any connections to EA Mythic. Previously his signature stated his status as Community Coordinator for EA Mythic. (To clarify, the Warhammer Alliance still has him VIP’d but his signature has changed.)

– Message board posters are starting to pick up on this and ask questions – no responses so far.

– Richard’s profile on War-RvR.net has been changed.

I will try and stay on top of this rumor to prove it’s validity and keep you all updated. I certainly hope that it’s untrue. I have had high hopes for the community in the hands of Richard.

  • Wow! Do you have any kind of link to something that is written on this, or did you just hear this via the grapevine? Lemme know what else you find out.

  • More news is coming in and I’ll be posting periodic updates in this topic. For now we know the following as confirmed:

    – Richard’s message board accounts on Warhammer Alliance and Vault Network no longer reflect any connections to EA Mythic. Previously his signature stated his status as Community Coordinator for EA Mythic.

    – Message board posters are starting to pick up on this and ask questions – no responses so far.

I expect more revelations as the day goes on.  This is how it started with Sanya Weathers, the previous Community Coordinator. 🙁

  • Well, as you know Richard Duffek conducted an interview with Warhammer Conflict just yesterday (9/11/07). It was completed around 2:30 pm eastern time. So, if something has happened, it happened rather quickly. I absolutely hope this is not true. But if it is . . I certainly wish Richard the best of luck!

  • Wrenn,

He also posted on WHA earlier today (9/12) from the standpoint of being an employee as well.

    Keen,

If James was a replacement, there was no mention of it. He was just hired on to help out.

  • Hi Wrenn! I just read that interview today. Good stuff!

I agree though, Richard’s been great for WAR so far, it’s hard to manage someone else posting to the WARHerald.

  • Silex, yes, it was my understanding that James was an addition to the team . . .not a replacement. I’m sure James is a great guy and a stellar employee. I’m just interested to find out if this rumor of Richard’s departure is true or not.

JoBildo . . thanks for the compliment. I hope some of your thoughts and concerns were addressed.

  • And so far I haven’t seen any news of anyone(Richard or otherwise, in the past) being promoted to Sanya’s recently vacated position

  • So far he has changed his e-mail away from the [email protected] address, and updated all of his forum information on the major fan sites. I haven’t checked his mmorpg.com account yet though, but I assume it is the same there.

With all of the fact so far, it seems that he is acting with spite and clearing all connections. I imagine he is upset, so most likely it was not a decision that he made, but one of EA’s own.

This is all speculation, and he may have been offered a job someplace better, IDK. I guess we will all have to stay tuned….

  • I dont believe that changing email addresses away would indicate spite at all, simply that he may no longer work for them and so thus no longer has access to that email account.
