Could Dungeons & Dragons 4th Edition be rolling out soon?

While browsing various forums I happened to come upon someone linking to the Wizards of the Coast site displaying a countdown. The link is found in the D&D section of the site. If you take notice you will see they display the number “4” quite a few times. As the “A” in “Adventure” and on the top face of each unique die. Is Wizards planning on revealing the 4th edition? It would be a pretty safe bet to assume that they are.

Keen and I have had some experience with D&D over the years, but not nearly as much as I would have liked. It’s not as fun when you can only rouse three people to play with, one of which having to be the Dungeon Master. That didn’t stop me from acquiring most of the 3rd edition core and source books, however. I can also recall some time later when 3.5 came out and they re-released all new books. By then I had given up trying to play the game as nobody seemed the slightest bit interested, but maybe this time I can gather up some people to adventure with. Anyways, in a few hours we will see what new things Wizards has in store for Dungeons & Dragons.

You can find the countdown page here.

  • I’m playing 3.5 currently, and not really looking forward to a whole new edition already (sigh). It’ll probably be a while before I pick it up.

  • So 1.0 to 2.0 change was THAC0 and screw Gary Gygax out of royalties.

2.0 to 3.0 change was D20 system and Wizards of the Coast full rebrand

3.0 t?o 3.5 was… some small changes and to sell some more stuff

3.5 to 4.0 will be? Guesses? Anybody? Bueller?

    1.0 was good for 12 years, 2.0 for 11, 3.0 for just 3 years, and now 3.5 for only 4 years? Hrmmm…
