I’m a sucker for anything Warhammer and if it’s Warhammer Online gameplay footage… what else could be better? Gamesday LA held in Ontario California at the convention center (GRRR!!! That’s only 20 minutes away and I had no idea it was going on!!! GRR!!) looks like it was a blast. In this video taken by the Anxiety guild you will see not only 10+ minutes of game footage but you’ll get to hear the PVP and Combat balance leader discuss the reasons why gear may not necessarily be all that important in Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning.
To summarize what was said; basically you will never be matched against someone else that will totally outclass you. There will be times when someone who can put more time into the game will have better gear and will be higher level than you but it will be within reason. The game is tiered and restricts higher level players from going into zones or instances where they would be unstoppable. It’s important to note that someone with better gear who is higher level than you can and most likely will obliterate you. That’s to be expected though and you see it in almost every game out there. It just makes sense that someone who has more levels will naturally have better gear and should naturally destroy you in a 1 on 1. Personally, I don’t think it’s enough evidence to cry foul over just yet.
So what have we learned? Gear will be important. How important? Probably like it was back in DAOC where it did make a difference but not nearly the same as WoW.

Yep I watched this yesterday and was pretty intrigued. I’ve been doing a lot of research on Warhammer lately, trying to digest pretty much everything I can find. Totally pumped for this game.
Heading to GenCon this week where I hope EA/Mythic has it set up similar to how they had it in this video. If so, I’ll definitely get some hands on time and let folks know how it is firsthand.
I hear they’ll have something set up there. Take lots of pictures or video. It’s all I have to get me through the weeks!
