GuildCafe

I recently joined this social networking place for gamers that reminds me a lot of Myspace without the crap that makes Myspace…well crap. I first learned of GuildCafe from Cuppy’s blog posts telling everyone about it. I figured I would check it out and sign up because that’s what I do, you know, sign up for stuff (and I wonder why I have so much spam mail?). At first GuildCafe was really confusing and I have never claimed to be one to read instructions. But after playing with the thing for a bit I think I finally have the hang of it. It seems whoever created GuildCafe jimmyrigged a Vbulletin software and made it into more of a social personal page thing. It’s really quite ingenious once you look at it for what it is.

Now I am not saying that I am a fan of these networking things because honestly I’ve never seen much come from them. To be honest I usually sign up for them and forget all about them within a month, thus defeating the purpose of this sort of site entirely. However now that I am much more involved in the commuties of the games that I play I don’t see the harm in at least trying to keep something like this maintained. There’s something that fascinates me with the idea of making friends and having them join your friends list and maintaining a place for you to keep in touch with others – not that I can’t do that here on my blog, but you get the point.

So if you haven’t signed up yet and you’re one of those social outgoing types that really wants to feel like you are “part of something” then sign-up and get yourself a little personal page and make it your own. So far I have mine set up with the games I am currently playing/waiting for and I’ve added a few quotes and tags for people to find me. I’ve linked to my blog here and I’ve associated myself with my Vault Network nickname and such.

If you want to add me to your GuildCafe friends list you can find my profile here. Right now I think my friends list consists of Cuppy but I expect it will grow over time.

  • I just invited you as a friend and left you feed back- I’ve been reading your blog for a while (don’t care much for the comix, but find the posts interesting and entertaining).

  • I built an account here some time ago as well and I did exactly as you did, twittered off and forgot about it for some time.
I think its time that I revisit this profile and keep it updated. I hope that with Sanya Weathers working there it will keep the quality going and the popularity rising.
Im willing to give it another shot.

  • Yeah to be honest that’s something I left out of the blog entry but Sanya Weathers was another big reason I checked it out to begin with.
