Too few Minstrels on Meneldor

Well tonight was an interesting one in LOTRO.  Beoarke and I have been really grinding out those last few levels as we set our sights on the Ettenmoors.  We have both managed to reach level 47 and finished up Book 7 Chapter 8.  I don’t know the situation on any other servers but right now on Meneldor we have a seriously lack of Minstrels that are willing to group.  At first when we were broadcasting for more we filled up without a Minstrel or a Guardian and that turned out extremely ugly – we stood no chance from the beginning.  After wiping twice we decided to get a Guardian and luckily for us someone had to go.  We picked up a Guardian and went back in to try the instance again… same results because we had no healing.  Then after standing around for 30 minutes trying to find more people we finally found a Minstrel to join us.

The instance itself was extremely fun but it really made it clear that Minstrels are too few.  How is the Minstrel situation on your servers?  Do you guys sit around for hours sometimes trying to find a Minstrel that has the same quests as you?  Just yesterday my party had 4-5 solid and fairly easy fellowship quests to do but we were stuck twiddling our thumbs because there wasn’t a Minstrel.

Well that’s my rant/complaint for the night.  Things have been slow in the gaming world the past few days but I am hoping to see a rise in action over the course of the week.

  • Yeah, I’m always seeing folks putting out the call for minstrels—and not getting anywhere. IMO, healers are just too dependent on others for game-play, so very few people want to play them unless they have guaranteed gaming partners. My husband’s playing a minstrel, but then he only gets to play occasionally and he always pairs up with my guardian so he knows he doesn’t have to try to solo as a minstrel.

  • I’ve been wondering if I shouldn’t start playing my own, instead of this damned Champion, just so I can get groups easier. 😛 And at least I wouldn’t need to worry about finding a healer, I would be one!

  • Aww…I miss you guys to! When I come back I can start getting some thanks for all my precious healing stylez!!11

Ohio is Ok I guess. The kids are a lot of fun. I miss LOTRO though and playing with you guys. You’re level 47 already? I guess I was really holding you guys back. Oh well, i’ll catch up when I can.

  • Hey Bart! No you were definitely not holding us back AT ALL. There are a ton of quests to get you from 44-47 and then the easy/good quests top completely and turn into full group hardcore quests. To be honest if you were here we would all be near 50. We’ve had to grind on hillmen in Donvail and Wargs in those orc caves… *claws his eyes out* OH and worms *claws his eyes out again*

Hurry back and have fun in Ohio! 🙂

  • I wouldn’t say they are as abundant as it was around release, but I have found the Captain and Loremaster to be pretty decent for groups that are facing something a little lower than or equal to their level.

Captains have that HoT and Loremasters get some type of heal, not sure exactly, but having one of each or two of either of them kept me alive more than once. Nothing beats a Minstrel for the massive heals and rez, but don’t count your group a failure unless you are completely lacking any type of heal whatsoever.

  • I definitely agree that Captains and Loremasters can be decent group healers especially if there are 2 of them in any combination.

However, in the serious quests outside of Carn Dum/Urugarth for example you can’t do it without a Minstrel. Now that I am halfway through 48 I am struggling to do anything without a Minstrel. So far I have done a decent job networking with other players and I am at least building a name for myself as a quality player.

    Still pushing along!
