Well Thursday’s patch has come and it definitely made an impact on the PvMP community.  Monsters have their armor back!  I logged in this morning to see for myself and there it was, all 375 of my armor.  The good news is that slugs no longer nearly kill me and I can once again solo the Hobbits or “Rat-Folk” in HoarHollow.  I’ve been playing my Blackarrow and completely shelved my Reaver.  Until melee is viable in Monster Play I will likely remain on my Blackarrow or start up a Weaver (Spider).  I had no idea that the Evendim patch made spiders ranged attackers.  The ability to attack at range and poison the enemy and root(web) them sounds fun.  Hopefully the Freeps on Meneldor step up and start taking keeps instead of hiding behind their guards.

  • After reading comments about Monster Play and having a 3000 points to play with, I created a character on my server. It was fun I admit but my spider and orc buddies out number the Shire folk 8-1. They stay protected for the most part, not venturing to far from their purple buddies who never miss I may add.

I can only come to one conclusion, the people who are into PvP, RvR etc…. are playing monsters for the most part. They play them because they can’t play them any place else in game. They would just love to run wild through Bree-land chopping off heads. You would never see a lore follower inside the instance because playing PvP of any type is not allowed. I believe the characters in Monster Play are balanced but the elves, hobbits, dwarfs and humans are hard to come by.

LOTRO will eventually have PvP, RvR etc… Boooo, Hisssssss!!!!!! I know the lore does not allow for it. I know the Devs say it will never happen. I know the rights are very limited etc… Eventually players will stop playing LOTRO for a new game. It may take years but PvP and RvR will raise its ugly head and become an option in order to retain players. Money, yes that evil dollar will be the cause. Maybe then the orcs can live inside a building instead of a cave or tent.
