EQ2: Delbert Dings 31 and changes his achievements!

Yesterday Delbert hit level 30 which is big news for the little rat.  Level 30 means I can now use my Fabled Sword and respec my achievement points out of agility and into wisdom.  The decision to respec does not come lightly though.  Respecing achievements points costs 10g the first time (No, for some reason I was not offered a free respec) and 1plat the first time all the way up to 10plat.  Every month it resets back to 10g so making a mistake will cost you dearly.  Being the obsessive compulsive ratonga that I am when it comes to having “perfect” builds I studied and planned my respec for hours.

Delbert’s achievement points are now Wisdom: 4-4-4-8-0 and Strength: 3-x-x-x-x.  I debated if I should go down strength until the crits and slowly work down the wisdom tree but in the end decided that in order to break even on damage I needed to have at least that many points in wisdom.  So far the build is decent.  I can kill yellows with no difficulty (for the most part – there are the few times when I don’t proc double attacks and I get below half hp) and some oranges.  Group mobs are still the bane of my Brigand because Brigands have one single AoE attack and it stinks worse than the slums of Freeport.  I have yet to get into a group to test how much damage he can inflict with buffs but I have a pretty good feeling it will be big.  One thing to note with this new spec is the pace of combat is much much slower instead of being a spamfest of hotkeys – but hey that helps prevent carpal tunnel.  😉

As of writing this Delbert is level 31 and currently working on quests in the Enchanted Lands.  I’m disappointed in myself for not finishing the Nek/TS quests before a ton of them turned gray.  I just don’t have the attention span to run for 30 minutes to find the specific type of snake just to run 30 minutes back and find out I have to go find a specific type of crab.  Gaining 3 levels in a dungeon per night has proven to be much more fun than gaining half a level questing.  But hey I have to get those darn achievement points.

  • Forgot to say grats on your new sword! The line you have gone down is by far and away the best. I would suggest going the full way with the Wis(one handed) line and end up with at least 4-4-6-8-1(last one costs 2 obviously). Swashy/Brig DPS is very very mpressive on the parse …when you take that line..it will get even better.

    Happy Adventuring.

  • Keen,

Where are you going to level in your 30s? Have you found any good dungeons to grind? Do you know of any good instances?

I am on a pvp server so doing the solo quests in Enchanted Lands and Zek can be quite dangerous. My swashbuckler just hit level 33.

  • Well right now I’m doing Enchanted Lands and getting groups for Ruins of Varsoon. RoV is slowly becoming too low level to be worth it and Enchanted Lands quests are drying up. It seems they span from about 30-34 then 36+. I’ll most likely head to Zek next and then… I have no idea. 😛

I think Runnyeye is a good dungeon for this level.

  • Basically RoV is good for up 32 or so, RE after that up to almost 40 even, but there’s tons of quests in Enchanted Lands, Zek, plus you can explore Lavastorm.
