Keen:
I think my permissions are messed up too. It tells me I don't have permission to open the chests in my house in the Coastal village.

That is actually a case of disabled-as-intended. I locked down all of the WorldGuard zones (for that is what they are) to err on the safe side during all the server and software transitions that have been going on. Now that you have logged into the server and dropped a playerfile that CraftBukkit can reference, I can set you as owner of the coastal village and the kelethines (two regions there, main and side), which will give you more or less full control over anything there minus the railway.
Which I just did.
WG being the pita that it is, I can't confirm its taken the settings properly without actually logging in-game, which I won't be able to do for a while yet. Mucho appreciation if you could login and confirm for me please.
You also have a chest with your name in my basement.

Mc same as here - Darkstryke

Permissions fix't. You weren't anywhere near a minecart however, so I sneaked one into your inventory.
Speaking of inventories, there should be a chest with your name in my basement, we both need to be online for me to give you your stuff though.
On a somewhat-related note (this is aimed at everyone not Darkstryke):
- please don't leave minecarts anywhere, poor things are too glitchy to be left unsupervised in the wild by themselves. (but please let me know if any more permissioning issues crop up with them)
- if you haven't played MC for a while, note that breaking minecarts now requires multiple clicks, that is to say, you can not hold down your left mouse button and wait for the cart to break... must...keep...clicking........ :(

Thanks much. I haven't played in a while, logged in and realized I had no food, couldn't move my cart, losing life and being chased by spiders in the night with no weapon or armor, lol.
I guess something happened to the world as well, as by the old spawn I had my floating little area and a rail line extending way out into the desert biome passed it, which is all now a forest, so I'm guessing the chunk got messed up. No big deal, was just funny to go 'where did my railway disappear to'. Not sure about the chest, didn't think I had anything else other then the floating island one.

Oh.. where should I start ? :)
The world came to a sudden end circa the release of MC 1.0 (the "release" release, everything prior to that being a "beta" of some kind).
Lava exploded, obsidian flowed, the four horsemen rode to the nearest pizza... and .. OK, not quite, but the old world (that is, the old map) is no more. Parts of the old world have been copy/pasted into a brand new world. If you haven't yet, click on the dynamap links in the first post of this thread to see what the world looks like. If you do that while logged into the server, you will see yourself on the map as well, which will help you get your bearings.
As the world was swallowed by the mighty "delete" command, so were all records of the players in it. (Twice actually)
What I did do at the time is examine said records and write down what was in each player's inventory. After the new world was up and running, I put down a chest for each player, pulled out my notes and put stuff in the chest according to my notes. I took the liberty of rounding up to the nearest stack or half stack for stackable items to make my life just a little bit easier.
So, now you are in a new world, spawned near the viking village without an inventory -- which is why I mentioned there is a chest with your name on it to claim.
You will now experience hunger -- your food level is indicated by the line of what looks vaguely like chicken legs above your toolbar. Once your stomach is empty, you will start to lose health. You will not die from starvation, but your health will be significantly reduced making you a lot more vulnerable to passing spiders. When fully sated you will slowly regain health. Food adds to your food level, and does not heal you any more.
Darkstryke:
Oh I know all about the 1.0 changes for food, etc, but I had no idea that the map itself was new and portions of 'old spawn' shall we say copied over. Makes total sense now why there's snow all over the old desert area ;)
Thanks again.
