Guild Charter

(1/1)

Keen:

Happy Fun Guyz Guild Charter
Happy Fun Guyz (HFG) is a community of gamers who have come together to form a guild for the expressed purpose of creating an atmosphere and environment conducive to the type of gaming experience we wish to have in every game that we play.   It is our Guild's goal to become a shaping force in each game and its community whether it be through our skill and infamy in PvP combat, skilled and highly sought after crafters, or accomplishments in the form of cities, ships, and so forth.

Our goal is to create an atmosphere that will be approachable by the community around us because of our maturity, skill, dedication, clear goals, and our ability to have fun in everything we do.  We wish to be known as the guild that can take in a newer or casual player just as easily as the hardcore and allow for both to play together successfully.  We will teach those who need to learn, support those who need our aid, and conqueror those in our way.

We are more than a group of people playing games together.  We care about the person behind the keyboard and want to ensure that each person joining our community truly feels welcome and apart of something great.  We know that there are times when you can not always log in to play and that's perfectly acceptable.  We all have our real life obligations.  Our members are College students, Teachers, Network Administrators, Musicians, Parents, CEO's, Law Enforcement, Military, etc., and all of us respect what each other have going on in our real lives.  Never feel uncomfortable with putting your real life first.

What We Expect From Our Members
Below is a list of qualities that are expected of all members.  If you're new to our guild then these are the qualities you want to show us that you have and if you're a member these are the qualities you show exemplify at all times.  Actions speak louder than words.

* Unwavering Loyalty to the guild and its members - Your first duty in-game is to the guild and its safety, success, and overall well being.  When you join us it's because you want to be a member of HFG and this community.  Other guilds, activities with other guilds, personal gain, and anything else that may come before the guild should be considered a second priority.  This is quite possibly the most important quality of all.  The absolute worst thing that anyone can ever do is show that they have been disloyal because, try as you may to undo the damage, people will never look at you the same way again.
* Commitment - When you say you'll do something you should always try to do it.
* Honesty - Your word should be your bond.  It should never even be a question of whether a member of this guild is telling the truth.
* Passion and Motivation - In life you need to be passionate about whatever it is you're doing.  Members need to be passionate and motivated to accomplish their personal goals, the guild's goals, and to enjoy playing the game.  If you lose that passion and motivation then your entire attitude and outlook on just about everything changes.

Our reasonable behavioral expectations placed upon the members of our community:
We have said from day 1 that we will not place any unreasonable expectations on our members and we firmly stand behind that philosophy.  We do however have certain expectations of our members that we have found, upon careful consideration, to be not only reasonable but necessary for a community to thrive.  We feel these are commonsense:

* If it's not acceptable at work, in school, or in public then it's probably not acceptable here.
* Rules of normal human decency apply.
* We are trying to keep a positive, upbeat, PG-13 atmosphere where all members can feel welcome.
* Drama is not tolerated in any form.  If you are prone to drama you will not fit in comfortably with us.
* We expect our members to be mature and capable of adapting to situations that arise comfortably.
* Absolutely no discussions about politics or religion in guild chat, ventrilo, or the forums.
* No cheating of any kind.
We have a no-tolerance policy for those who seek to conduct themselves in blatant contrast to our standards.  We hold no ill-will toward these individuals but have no reservations about separating ourselves from them.  If you feel that our expectations are unreasonable then we are just not the right community for you, and that's totally fine!  We refer to this as our revolving door policy: It's easy to get in, and easy to get out.

Guild Hierarchy
HFG is organized into a simple and universal hierarchy.  The leadership of HFG operates as a Council with responsibilities delegated to each of the Leaders and Officers.  The Council comes together to decide on guild policy.  Below the Council are the Veteran Members who have proven that they are willing to go above and beyond, as well as spend a great deal of time as a member of our greater community.

Officers are the same as veteran members except that they have been given extra responsibility to help run the guild.  These members have authority insomuch that they have administrative authority to help oversee the guild.  What they say should be respected.

Veteran members have been with the guild for more than one game or have been with us for a very long time.  This is what everyone should strive for because you're really here for only one reason.  You're in the guild because you -want- to be here.

Members have proven that they are a good fit into our community and are now one of us.

Initiates are new members who are still undergoing the two week evaluation.  We expect all recruits to evaluate us just as much as we evaluate them in order to ensure that we're a good match for each other.  During this time it is best that you get to know us and that we get to know you.  It bothers us when after two weeks we still have no idea who you are except by name.

Voice Communication Server
Our guild has our very own Ventrilo Server.  You can connect with the following information:

Server: fluorine.typefrag.com
Port: 60584

We encourage all of our members to log on to Ventrilo when playing with the guild in order to communicate better.  However, we do not absolutely require that you have a mic.  We have not come out and made Ventrilo a requirement of our members, but so far we have not had anyone blatantly refuse to at least log in to listen.  We feel that voice communication strengthens the bonds between members and allows for not only better communication but the ability to get to know each other much quicker.
