I’m just a little black rain cloud…

…Hovering under the honey tree!

I had quite the adventure this afternoon in Warhammer Online.  I had just loaded up Troll Country after participating in a scenario to find myself suddenly floating off the ground raising up into the air higher, and higher, and higher like a balloon!

Floating away from my group...
Floating away from my group...

As I began floating away I tried to use my book of recall but it kept telling me that I was interrupted. I frantically tried /stuck and it went through the motions and the countdown to return me to a safe spot. Upon returning me to a “safe spot”, I began floating away again! It was time to contact a GM.

yay, a GM!
yay, a GM!

The GM was kind enough to offer me a summon but that didn’t go so well…

Crap, it didn't work!
Crap, it didn't work!

I began floating away again after being summoned!  The GM had a great sense of humor and brought me back to the ground again… but I started floating away yet AGAIN and this time even faster!   Finally the GM teleported me to another region altogether … across the world in Barak Varr.  Upon zoning, irony of ironies, I CTD’d.  Upon logging back in, the GM let me know that it appeared as though I were fixed.   When I asked the GM to take me back to Troll Country… see the picture below.

Sorry, we can't do that...
Sorry, we can't do that...

LOL, they don’t provide that service but they just… bah, whatever.  At least I didn’t float off into oblivion.  It was a hilarious situation, at least for Graev as he cackled in the background.  In the end I made it back to Troll Country and my feet stayed firmly on the ground.

  • Hah, that’s new. Despite the bugs, I’m realy impressed with the quick response times Mythic has when problems arise. Cloning servers, GM work… WAR’s buggy for now, but give it a few months and there’s no way anyone will stop it.

  • That happened to me too. My little floaty adventure started out when I died in the Inevitable City dungeons, managed to hit /stuck and turned up in my Nordland bind spot, and floated away over and over to the ceiling, which then forced me to reload Nordland over and over every 15 seconds or so per float cycle. Couldn’t use the book because the movement interrupted, and didn’t want to log, there was this horrible 300 person queue outside anyway.

I did like how the “Contact CSR” option had categories. My ‘stuck in world geometry’ GM rescuer turned up pretty quickly, under 5-10 mins. He took a second, announced I was somehow in a ‘null zone’ and said he’d transfer me out to either Nordland or Ostland. I picked Nordland. Except I needed to be logged off to do it. So get on another alt to stay in contact with him.

I said “okay” and logged off like a good little monkey. And it wasn’t until I clicked the alt that I realized I’d just signed up for a 350 person queue. 😛 Took me 30 mins to get in, and by that point, the GM had long gone, I’d said ferget it, I’m playing my alt and checking my main later and bitching if it isn’t fixed then.

Fortunately, when I checked back once the queues had gone, my floaty main had indeed been transported in my absence to the Nordland warcamp and had his feet firmly grounded again. 😛

  • Hey Keen, been reading your blog for a bit now and just never really responded to and of your posts. You’ve got some good stuff here.

    Anyways…

This happened to me in CB a few times way back before X-Mas. It didn’t happen after so i thought they had fixed it. I guess not. I would just let it run to see how far high I got, but I would CTD often. So i never got really high. after a CTD i logged back in, found myself on the ground and reported it.

  • @keen
Hey keen i need your help!!
I was playing a marauder, but its so bored, So i started a shaman, but i like more the dark side and now im between a zealot and a shaman.

But the problem is that i prefer the class that does more damage, can do you tell me if the shaman does more damage than the zealot or is almost the same?

In wow i was a shadow priest, so maybe is that why im looking for something similar..

    Thank you!

  • Too funny!

I haven’t had exactly that thing happen to me, but sometimes when I run the length of a fallen tree or something, I will run up into the air and then suddenly drop off as if I dropped off a building. Ow!

  • Just wanted to say I enjoyed this blog back when I was checking out AoC (I made a few posts here and there)), so I came back to read the WAR comments. Sounded like a lot of fun so I picked up the game today. I am considering rolling a destruction character on Wolfenburg if I can stand the queue times! Would enjoy having some intelligent people to play with!

  • That reminds me of the falling through the world one that hit me and my bro at least twice in Wow. You fall and fall and then hit an invisible barrier a ways below and die a horrible death. Then you cant even walk back to your body so you have res sickness 😛 Thanks for sharing Keen, the Winnie the Poo song was perfect.
