Forget the FireFly MMO, where's my Firefly season 2,3,4 onwards?

That aside, I have trouble believing they're making this game from the ground up, given the short release date (and complete lack of money). It would make a lot more sense if they were ripping out a chunk of the SGW client and re-packing it as a single player game.

SG is probably my favourite tv-series ever and so I'll need to test this out.

Meh, not really very excited. The time for a SG1 FPS was 5 years ago, not now. I'm a little disappointed that the MMO got canned but not that surprised. Anyway, it sounds like they have some engine that they built and want to take advantage of, hence the FPS.

If it's all new code and whatnot that makes me worry even more, but if it is just online/team based only that does cut down on a lot of the work of single player design.

As a note since his name gets mentioned: Chris Klug worked on Earth & Beyond, which I enjoyed. The reverse-engineer / disassembly style crafting system was especially good. Such a shame that game fell prey to EA's <em>blockbuster or cancelled</em> MMO policy at the time.

For SGW: Aside from their various troubles getting the last coat of paint on the thing, I was concerned we would be getting another non-shooting shooter (ala Tabula Rasa). So it's interesting to see them try to leverage into an actual shooter. I'm thinking I underestimated their descriptions of their combat.

On Stargate overall: Loved the movie, liked SG1, didn't like Atlantis much. As far as good sci-fi story goes I feel they've outdone themselves with SG Universe. When I think of how rare it is for a sci-fi series to step out of the gate with good episodes-- I hope they can keep up the pace.

I hope it is worth playing as I am also a huge SG fan (every series on DVD) and Worlds early beta was looking so sweet.

Supposedly it isn't borrowing much from SGW as a Firesky staff said in a thread about it just being the PvP part of SGW "Nothing could be further from the truth. It's a whole new game from the ground up. And while many of the designs and concepts may look familiar, it is a new engine, new code base, new assets, and new design....so... new game."

Also pretty cool that this will be team-based only and no single-player experience. Using the Unreal 3 engine on small maps should be pretty, staff even said "one of the first games to use Unreal's new lightmass."

Disappointed to have seen SGW so far in development and than when the money problems hit, shoved aside and obviously this made in the interim. Maybe it will give them the cash needed to complete SGW, I hope so. Still crossing my fingers for both games to be worth the long wait.

I think it's definitely a last ditch effort. The early release date is probably because they'll borrow heavily from SGW. Even if it feels more like a HL2 Mod or something, as long as its priced correctly I'll play it.

I would be excited but given the insanely early listed release date this game has failure written all over it. Based on what I've seen on the website this just seems like an attempt to make some money back or make more funding for worlds.

Hopefully that isn't the case but when a game is announced out of left field in December and has a Q1 2010 release date I don't see why I should have any faith.
